If you are suffering from pain, tingling, numbness or other symptoms in your wrists, you need the help of a respected, expert chiropractor. At Simmons Specific Chiropractic, we don’t only relieve your symptoms, we seek the root cause of the problem so it doesn’t have to recur. We receive referrals of difficult cases from all over Michigan and would love to help you correct your problem too.

What Is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Let’s start with the basics. Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) results when a nerve in the wrist becomes pinched. This nerve travels through a tunnel of bones in the wrist, called “carpals,” which is where carpal tunnel syndrome gets its name. When this nerve is pinched, your thumb feels weakened and your index and middle finger can experience pain or other symptoms.

What Are the Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

There are a variety of indications that you might be suffering from early onset CTS or a more advanced case.

  • Tingling in one or both hands during the night. Sometimes this tingling can be so bad it disrupts your sleep.
  • Feelings of weakness or uselessness in your fingers.
  • Daytime tingling, resulting in weakness of the hands. When this happens, you may find you’re unable to squeeze a ball or other device as tightly.
  • A feeling of swelling in your fingers, even though you can’t see any external signs.
  • Loss of strength in the hand near the base of the thumb.
  • Shooting pain traveling from hand to shoulder, which may or may not be accompanied by wrist pain.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you need a chiropractor to manage them and locate the root cause of the problem.

How Can a Chiropractor Help with CTS?

Your chiropractor can help you substantially reduce the symptoms of CTS, reducing pain and inefficiency when you use your hands. After an initial examination, our chiropractor will propose a care plan. This plan will likely combine in-office care or adjustments with lifestyle advice to help diminish the causes of the problem.
